Jeffrey's Bar Mitzvah: Party Like a Rock Star
Our goal for Jeffrey's Bar Mitzvah was a fun, upbeat, high-energy event and we truly achieved it. Everything from the bright colored electric guitar themed centerpieces and the energetic emcee to the giveaways including blow-up guitars, beads and sunglasses made the day memorable for guests of all ages.
Daniland
Danielle's Bat Mitzvah in April turned out to be a near perfect weekend. We kicked things off with a family dinner on Friday night (compliments of Auntie Jan, Aunt Susan and Uncle Bob) and featured the delicious food from Mezza in Livonia. Since we were trying to theme the meal with Detroit specialties, dessert included Ghiradelli brownies with Sanders hot fudge and ice cream. What could be better! Our out of town guests devoured the Mezza offerings which included hummous, rice pilaf, chicken and fatoush salad...my mouth is watering just thinking about this. Saturday morning brought joy as we sat on the Bimah at Temple Israel and silently kvelled as our daughter beautifully led the congregation in prayer, chanted Torah and Haftorah and received the traditional blessings from Rabbis Yedwab and Bennett. Following the service we enjoyed a short Kiddush and returned to our house with about 30 guests to enjoy lunch (yes another meal) catered by Annabel's & Co. Catering. Julie Herman does a fabulous job of preparation and arranging. We walked in our house (a neighbor let Julie and her staff in) to find a gorgeous table with sumptuous sandwiches, salads and sweets. They made everything so easy. Lest our friends and family go hungry, we gathered once again for dinner. The Courtyard Marriott in Farmington Hills was fabulous. Since our party was planned for Sunday in their banquet room, and our out of town guests were staying at the hotel, we were able to secure party space for Saturday evening as well. We had a pizza/pool party hosted by our good friends Gabi and David. Sunday was the icing on the cake, particularly for Danielle. Adorned in her Jessica McClintock party dress she was beaming. Our photographer, Bill Bertakis, was right on time and began setting up the photo booth so everyone could go home with souvenir photos. Since Daniland was all about Candy, we set up a candy buffet with bags so our guests could fill up a goody bag to go. We had Rad-A-Tattoo in one corner doing airbrush tattoos. Besides candy themed centerpieces created by Richard (Danielle's dad), we used Go Balloonies to provide colorful balloon bouquets.
